What is it?

Oaza is a small, closed online community for European makers to chat about their day-to-day, share their projects, and just hang out with like-minded people.

Intentionally small

Oaza’s size is capped at ~35 members, you’ll know everyone after a week.

Closed

All members go through the same vetting process to both filter out the wrong people and let the right people in.

Makers? Europe?

Makers!

A maker is anyone who creates things primarily for the joy of creation itself. Does that sound very vague? Hell yes. But that’s intentional. It’s not about a specific hobby or profession, it’s more of a mindset thing. If you think you match this definition, you’re welcome in Oaza.

Europe!

Oaza is centered on European makers for practical reasons: shared time zones mean we're online together, and our relative geographic proximity makes occasional in-person connections possible—whether planned community meetups or spontaneous coffee when members find themselves in the same city.

Community Principles

Openness inside the community

We know that the internet taught you to be private, but we ask you to relax your guard a bit and open up to the community. Seeing the real person behind the avatar and nickname helps other members to better connect with you.

Don’t be a jerk

Oaza is no place for trolling, rudeness, harassing, or name-calling. Please treat everyone with respect (even if you don’t like what they’re saying). Or else you’ll get bonked (and banned).

Oaza is not for commerce

We’d love to hear about what you’re currently working on or any juicy stories from backstage. Feel free to share even the most boring details about your hobby or project. But no marketingy sales messages.

Questions you might have

Is it paid?

No, it’s completely free. Oaza is not monetized in any way.

How active do I need to be?

No hard requirements here, participate in a cadence you find comfortable, as long as you’re not a read-only.

What platform do you use?

Discord nicely covers the needs of a small community, so we’re using it.

How long does the application review take?

Couple of days usually. If you didn’t hear from us in a week, drop us a letter, please.

Are there any rules inside the community?

There are rules. But nothing extraordinary really, you can find them here.

How does that sound?

We strive to build an online third place where you'll actually feel you belong. This might be ambitious, but we can do a lot together—will you join us?
